This Is Me

Hello, my name's Chen. If you can't tell I'm Chinese, then I must have done a great job in fooling you guys. I love love love reading and writing YA books. I rarely read anything else.

Okay, I lied.

I also read classical stuff for fun, too, like novels by Jane Austen. I would say the Bronte sisters because I bought an anthology of their work, but I haven't read their work yet. I know, I know. I should've already read Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre already

I knew I wanted to be a writer back in 4th grade. I remember writing about clouds and bubbles and grass in poems and about a four-foot girl who has a green thumb in my tall tale. (When I was in 4th grade, I thought four feet was tall. Sigh. Child eyes.) In middle and high school, I was in the literary magazine club and took creative writing. In college (went to Penn State for 2 years and transferred to NYU for another 2 years), I majored in English and minored in Creative Writing.

And what can I do with an English degree? Yeah, I have no idea, but I did get my masters in English Education to be an English teacher, and that English degree did help.

Two of my works have gotten gold stars on HarperCollins Publishers' Inkpop. Apparently, my romantic comedies are da bomb with the readers there. Am I lame with using an outdated phrase? Maybe. But I still think I'm kinda awesome. (Not in a cocky way, by the way.)
